Patient Scientific and Educational Resources

Epilepsy is a brain disorder that causes seizures. Cannabidiol is a chemical within the Cannabis sativa plant, which unlike the other major Cannabis sativa metabolite—tetrahydrocannabinol—does not have intoxicating effects. Cannabidiol is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for patients with certain epilepsy disorders. While there are also over-the-counter cannabidiols available, these are not regulated or approved for medical use. In recent years there has been growing interest among patients on how and when to take cannabidiol for managing seizure disorders.

On this site we invite you to explore more about epilepsy and the possible role of cannabidiol in its management. We have provided patient support strategies and additional reading and resources to further your knowledge of epilepsy and cannabidiol. Feel free to explore our high-definition animations, apps, and other tools to enhance your knowledge in this quickly growing area!
